We turn ideas into productsAs product manager I have many different responsibilities. Besides actually running projects, I take part in all the necessary steps that turn an idea into a product. This can include contributing to product strategy development, doing the process analysis and requirement definitions, tracking ongoing development processes, piloting and finally bringing the product onto market. It is a wide range of responsibilities and that makes my daily work very interesting. I am a Medical Informatics specialist and in our healthcare unit, we spend a lot of time discussing clinical requirements and processes – looking for problems and creating solutions. |
|
To help us do this, we have regular meetings with colleagues – bringing together expertise from different areas.
In the healthcare industry, it’s all about efficiency and quality of service for our customers and their patients. Last year, for example, we developed a solution to give clinics better resource utilization with less manual work and the patients more transparency and flexibility in their personal planning. We made it possible for clinics to use SMS messages for appointments by integrating an SMS service within our clinical information system.
I enjoyed working on the project because the service gave such clear benefits to both the clinic and the patients – but also because we were such an effective project team.
It was the first cross-border co-operation project in which we had successfully brought together a team with colleagues from Finland, India and Germany – and all in a very short time. Thanks to the good result we achieved, we were awarded with Tieto’s Team Award 2008!
